I remember Dennis taking me and Alyson to fill out our FIRST job application when we were 15 years old...(was that legal? ha) at JACK IN THE BOX in Lewisville Texas...they were still in the process of finishing the new "box" that Jack was building...so I think by the time we actually started working there we were 16 years old. Dennis was a great Father figure~ he took me under his wing~ He later helped me out with Free Oil changes at the Kwik Kar in Flower Mound Tx. and was always so positive and had a certain warmth about him. I just wish I would have visited him in Arkansas...and had him teach me how to work my fly-fishing rod, that still sits in my garage! When I do attempt to use it... My hope it that He will be the breeze that guides the line out into the water for me. He will be missed, but never forgotten.

Pat and family,

My wife, Elizabeth, drove to Kwik Kar Lube today, (July 10)and discovered it closed and that Dennis had died. I am very sorry for your loss. I will miss seeing Dennis at Kwik Kar and poking fun at him for always "being at the river fishing". All of you are in my prayers and thoughts.

Dennis was my friend. And no one could have been a better friend to us all. He was a true gentleman and always had a positive attutide toward everyone and always shared his smile with others. Many things have been said of Dennis and they all fall short who he was and how he affected all our lives. My thoughts and prayers go to his family. I will miss my friend very much. He will indeed be missed by everyone.

Dennis's sudden death is truly a tragic loss for the family and also a tremendous loss for all the organizations which he has so significantly affected over the years. His premature death will have an affect on all of us who have worked with him and, I'm sure he had many more projects both underway and planned which will have to be carried forward by his many friends and coworkers. His long commitment to protection of the rivers and environment for all Arkansans has already been felt by those who've experienced the pleasures of our Ozark waterways and, this loss will invariably have an impact on the momentum of the organizations to which he was so important.

It is with great sadness that I say goodbye to a great man and recent friend. I and all "Friends" express our sympathy to the family and wish them the best knowing that they will be secure in the knowledge that Dennis was one of those very special people who spent countless hours so future generations will be able to enjoy our Arkansas heritage.

I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed talking with Dennis when he stopped in the fly shop. He always made us laugh and left us smiling. He will certainly be missed and fondly remembered by the fly fishing community he tirelessly supported and nurtured.

Dennis was a wonderful man who understood the value of our place on this earth and how we should respect and honor our environment for the future generations. His advise and counsel in protecting fish habitat could always be counted on. A gentle leader, he provided direction for many of us who loved the waters as much as he did. He will be greatly missed. I am so saddened to hear of Dennis' passing and just wanted to let his family know how much I liked and respected Dennis. He contacted me to work on water issues a couple of years ago and we have been allies and friends every sense.

Dear Pat and Family: Please know that you have my heartfelt sympathy at this most difficult time. Dennis was a true "champion for kids" as he helped to organize and sustain our youth fly fishing club at Kelly Middle School.
