Jeremy Ten Haken died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024. Jeremy was born Dec. 29, 1952, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he grew up and attended public school. As a teenager and young adult, he traveled extensively, eventually settling in Arka Read Obituary

More than 50 years ago, Jeremy taught me how simple it was to make nutritious food (delicious rice and vegetables!), to plant flowers, to find time to relax, and to design, pursue and manifest goals. He had a helpful spirit even then. I know he touched many lives on many levels. My condolences to all those who will miss his presence in this world.
The passing of Jeremy has really hit me hard. It's not often that you lose a friend of this caliber. Jeremy and I became fast friends when he asked me to be his sponsor, and that relationship lasted past my moving away from Fayetteville. Unfortunately long distance sponsorship didn't work and we decided to that he needed someone closer to home. As usually happens Jeremy wound up sponsoring me more than I did him. He remained a very close friend and was always available for breakfast or lunch on my infrequent trips to NWA. The last few times were during the passing of my parents, and Jeremy was a great person to be able to let go of my depression with. I was aware that he had many of the same experiences that I was going thru, he was a rock. He also had no pity and called it like he saw it through out our friendship. It was such a shock to hear of Jerome's passing. I loved his photos of old cars. They reminded me of our adventures in junkyards, searching for auto parts and coming across beautiful old cars with their elaborate hood ornaments. Many still shiny chrome after so long a time. I had not seen Jerome for many years, but those photos brought those memories back with crystal clarity. My thoughts go out to his family and his many close friends.
Jeremy was the kindest soul. We knew each other first through our 12 step connection and then again years later through our photography. Every time I would see him out somewhere he never failed to ask me how I was, which most people do, but with Jeremy he was sincere and honestly wanted to know - it was one of the things that made Jeremy special. He will be sorely missed.
In addition to his many other interests and activities, Jeremy was also a cave explorer and a member of the Boston Mountain Grotto of the National Speleological Society for the past 20 years. We his fellow cavers share fond memories of caving and socializing with Jeremy numerous times. He was always friendly, helpful, and a good team member. Jeremy was knowledgable, serious and enthusiastic about the caves, cave biology, and respecting the caves. He was always careful to never cause any damage or disruption to the caves or the natural cave environment. Our sincere condolences to his sister and other family members during this difficult period. Jeremy's caving friends will miss him and remember him always.

I'm saddened to hear of Jeremy's death. When I was starting my home repair service in 2001 he took time out of his busy schedule to give advice and encouragement. I'll always be grateful for his generous help and friendship.

My deepest condolences to you for your loss, and ours. Jeremy was a mentor of sorts to me in his time in the Photographic Society of Northwest Arkansas. He was a brilliant photographer and was always eager to share his knowledge and his adventures. He was a dear friend, and I will miss him deeply. I'm attaching one of my favorite photos of him. We traveled Route 66 together and played "dueling cameras" at an abandoned service station. He always made our photo events a delight.
