Kenneth Franklin Steele, Jr., 77, of Fayetteville, AR, died December 18, 2021, after living with Parkinson’s for almost 20 years. Ken was born in Statesville, NC, on January 16, 1944, to Kenneth F. Steele, Sr., and Ruth Wilhelm S Read Obituary
Dr. Steele, was a wonderful human being, a true gentleman. As a grad student I worked with him in the dept. of geosciences at the University of Arkansas. I will forever treasure my memories of our interactions. Sporting his iconic Timex watch and a jacket, he always cut a stylish figure in the old Ozark Hall auditorium during his geology classes. To Krista and Celisa---We are thinking of you with prayers and love in this time of sadness over the loss of your dear father. He was a wonderful person who will be missed by a host of friends and co-workers, but he leaves the best of himself in the lives of his two precious daughters. Kenny and I were life long friends. First met Kenny at Sunday School at Monticello Methodist Church before first grade. He was a great friend. We both attended UNC . Always enjoyed catching up at our high school reunions. May he rest in peace.

I met Ken when he entered Scotts High School in the fall of 1957. Being a very small school (52 in our class), everyone knew each other fairly well. Kenny and I immediately became close friends. We next went to UNC and Ken and I roomed together for the next four years. We pranked each other and had lots of fun together. Kenny played a great sax but he couldn’t sing worth a flip! He was always so smart and I always envied and admired him greatly. I could not have had a better friend or room mate. I will miss him very much.
Kenny was always a kind soul even as a child. From my experience he maintained that trait throughout his life. May we all cherish our memories of him.
Our sincerest condolences to Ken’s family. We enjoyed playing table tennis with Ken, and admired his strength.

I first met Kenny as we entered our freshman year at Scotts High School in 1958. He and Bill Morrison (already deceased) became my best friends. Oh the stories and good times we had for 4 years. I sang at his first wedding and followed his brilliant education and career. always sad that he chose to live so far away in his beloved Arkansas. Hard to understand how I'm 77 and Bill and Kenny are gone. My blessing to have known you.
