Thank you for this narrative, it was very interesting. Unfortunately I only knew his name as the brother of my grandfather, Leif, who died approx 25 years ago. My mother was Leif's daughter, Linda Hurd.

Uncle Roald's name was as spoken of with the greatest respect and admiration.
I had very few occasions to be with him, but the last visit was very special to me and expressed his concern for each of us as an individual member of the Peterson family.
Our family had the great pleasure of traveling through Europe for six weeks or so with Roald and Carmen during the mid-nineteen eighties.(I find it hard to think of one of them without the other.) My mother, who had an eye for beauty, remarked on what a truly outstanding and handsom couple they were. Our group consisted of about thirty people from varying backgrounds and differing ages. Roald was obviously an experienced traveler who could be at ease in any place at any time. His calm demeanor and good humor in the face of the inevitable changes and confusion helped set the tone for those less experienced travelers among us. Since that time, we saw him often at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fayetteville and remained friends to this day. My family and I will miss him. I am so lucky to have known Dr. Peterson, even though briefly. I met him through my position as Administrative Secretary at Butterfield Trail Village. It was such a pleasure to work with him, and hear of his life's adventures. He was one of the most fascinating people I have known. His delightful humor and way of looking at life, as well as his sense of curiosity will be missed. I am richer for having known him and feel his spirit lives on. My condolences to all of his family and friends.
Pete was a wonderful man, we will miss him.
Through June, I met and admired Roald. He was very special to those of us privileged to meet and know him. I, too, will miss Roald.
Without a doubt one of the most interesting residents living at Butterfield Trail Village. I will miss him!
Roald contirbuted so much to this world and we will miss him so much. He always asked about my garden and was interested in whatever I had to say.
Hanna, Rima--I consider it a true honor knowing your father, basking in his loving warmth, and being called "a good friend" by him. I loved and admired him more than I can convey, recognizing in him a truly royal presence, a broad, fathomless, playful intelligence, and alway...always his potent aura of love and acceptance. Roald (Pete) was a very dear friend - we were occasional scotch-sipping buddies! We became friends through our late wives - Carmen and Maria Teresa. We shared a deep interest in Partners of the Americas and worked together in Bolivia (Santa Cruz) and even shared a bit of dissipation along with our friend Hugo Arce, then President of the East Bolivia partnership.
I've been the recipient, along with my late wife, of the famous Peterson hospitality, as Carmen cooked up a storm, and Pete was ever the gracious host. I'll miss him!
