Todd and Tonya,I was saddened to hear of Bill's death, but I know where he is and what he is doing! He is seeing the saints, including Mickey, who went before him, and worshiping and singing at the feet of Jesus. What a wonderful life he had and how blessed you two are to have had parents like Bill and Mickey. W. J. and I had so much fun with both of them, and I look forward to the day when we shall all be together again. Till then, I hold on to the music and laughter and Bill's sweet smile. You are in my prayers as you walk through the loss. I love you both!Marie Davis
Billy Ray Shackelford--loving example, mentor, friend, brother. To me Bill was a shining star at Muldrow High School. He took me fishing in the creeks around Muldrow before he and my sister, Mickey, married and before they left for OBU to attend college. They invited me to come to OBU my sophomore year and live with them for the remainder two years they were still there. What gifts were these--but more, what kindness and care flowed from him!We shared many other things including how to enjoy cleaning, vacuuming(Kirby),washing clothes, cooking and "Belly" laughs (laughing so long and hard your belly hurts!)My sister dearly loved him--we all did--why not!He was the best man at my wedding to the love of my life. Martha came to love him like all the rest--what wonderful memories both of us have of our happy trips to the lake and beach with our children. These special memories will always be alive in my heart and he will forever be close to me.
I remember Mr. Shackelford fondly. He was kind and wise. I will be praying for your family during this difficult time. Christi (Largent) Bradshaw
I remember your parents being teachers at Harrah Schools. I didn't know your dad, only by sight, but I was a pupil of your mom's in music in my 5th and 6th grade school years. She was so lovely and such a good teacher. I loved her and I would bet that your dad was equally as such. I'm sorry for your loss.
Very special man. I know God said well done my good and faithful servant. I'll see you and Mickey one day when God calls me home. Till then I'll try and follow Bill's wonderful example. God gain our loss!
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Bill. I taught in the room next to Bill for many years at Carl Albert High School in Midwest City and he was truly a gentleman and excellent educator. He will be greatly missed.
Todd and Tonya, So sorry to hear of Bill's passing. May your memories be of all the good times and love in your family. Bill Mickey are singing in the heavenly choir now. Along with Larry. One day we'll join them.
Mr. Shackelford was my Spanish teacher at Carl Albert High School in the 1960s. He was such an excellent educator and wonderful person. One day my best friend and I were writing notes about this really cute boy that was sitting behind us in Spanish class. We weren't worried about the teacher intercepting the notes and reading them because we wrote them in shorthand! Mr. Shackelford intercepted a note and proceeded to read sections of it out loud to the class! We weren't so clever after all. He told us after class that he had taken shorthand class in school because his wife-to-be was in the class. He was wonderful about the whole thing and we had a good laugh with him. I grew up to be a teacher because of the wonderful example set by my teachers like Mr. Shackelford. He was one of my heroes!
Thank you Bill, Mickey and family for many years you have meant to the Tucker's family. Your musical abilities, helping educate our children, and just being a loyal customer and friend. Lee Roy Tucker
