I have wonderful memories of my cousin Dan. Most are from early childhood, before Aunt Mary & Uncle Jim moved from Ames, to Fayetteville. My mom would babysit him and his siblings from time to time, and I adored them all!
Fast forward to our family trip to Lake Vermilion/Trout Lake, arranged by Dave. With Ashley by his side, he was in his "happy place". He'll always hold a special place in my heart.
Daniel and I were friends in high school and enjoyed times shared at school and in Explorer Post. Daniel was always so kind, he had a quick wit, and we had a shared loved of outdoor adventures. I remember going to Camp Orr, hiking and ghost stories by the camp fire with our friends. I am so sorry we lost touch later in life, but I am sure many friends and loved ones shared so many, many cherished times with him. My thoughts and prayers are with Daniel’s family and friends in their tragic loss. My sincere condolences.
Dan was a gentle soul with a love of nature and animals. Soft spoken, he treated everyone with respect and kindness. He would make everyone feel better about their day. Dan looked at the world through the lens of an artist and captured those special moments for so many .His quick wit and sense of humor would always bring a smile. He will be truly missed.
Dan was always there to help me at Colliers in the photography department. He kept my deadlines in mind and was always keeping me up on the latest used equipment. Most important, Dan cared and was always with a smile. I am sure he is out on an adventure somewhere making great images between fishing casts. We will miss you my friend. Russell

Dan was the best man for when Duane Dunn and I were married. Duane was nervous and he slid his hand down to check his pulse, Dan saw him and smirked. It was funny at the time but was even more on the video.
Dan also took my son, Jimmy Baker, on his first squirrel hunting outing. They brought home one squirrel. But we made
Squirrel and dumplings and Jimmy was so proud.
I have so many fond memories of Dan that it's hard to believe. And even harder to limit them to just one or two. Dan was a wonderful man and his passing is so hard to believe.

Dan was a good friend . He helped me with photography after I received my first real camera. Not a phone camera lol. He was very giving.
So grateful to have spent time playing and going on adventures with Dan when we were kids. NW Arkansas natural beauty provided the perfect backdrop for teenagers who loved to hike, camp, rappel, fish, and explore. Dan was smart, athletic, and fearless. He seemed to always have a smile and a laugh that made me happy. His house was the place to hang out, and I will always be grateful to his family for putting up with the neighborhood boys coming over to play. Thanks for the great memories and for enriching my life by being such a great example and a wonderful human being.
