Janie Mayfield Blaylock
June 15, 1942 - October 1, 2021
Janie Mayfield Blaylock, 79, of Fayetteville went home to be with her Heavenly Father, October 1, 2021, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born June 15, 1942, in Depew, OK to Archie A. and Alpha M. Mayfield. She graduated from Oakdale High School in Oakdale, CA in 1960. She married the love of her life, James L. Blaylock on September 7, 1962, in Modesto, CA. She and James moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1966, where they raised their family and continued to reside for the remainder of their lives. She loved cooking and baking, and all her family and friends enjoyed her efforts. She was the biggest cheerleader and supporter for her children and grandchildren, and in her opinion, they could do no wrong. She taught them all valuable lessons, but the most important lesson was about Jesus. She lived a life centered around God and her greatest joy was to see her children and grandchildren follow in her footsteps, and know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 50 years, James. Janie is survived by her three children: Rhonda Nelon and husband, Todd, of Atlanta, GA.; Lynda Marquess and husband, Mark, of Fayetteville; Doug Blaylock and wife, Heather, of Fayetteville; sister Lynita Faulkenberry of Ft. Smith; brothers Leon Mayfield and Charles Mayfield of Silver Springs, NV.; and seven grandchildren: Taylor Marquess and wife, Katie, of Fayetteville; Jordan Nelon and wife, Paige, of Dallas, GA.; Bailey Tahy and husband, Alec, of Fayetteville; Ashley Nelon and fiancé, Logan of Orlando, FL.; Shelby Nelon of Sandy Springs, GA.; Matthew Blaylock and fiancée Haley of Fayetteville; and Autumn Blaylock of Fayetteville. One great grandchild, Stella James Tahy of Fayetteville; her family in Christ, John and Linda Marquess and Leenie Gilbreath of Fayetteville, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend and set a wonderful Christian example for all to follow. She will be greatly missed, and while we grieve deeply, we also rejoice in the knowledge she is with her Heavenly Father and look forward to our reunion with her one day. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 5, at 9:00 AM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Service will follow at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of Nelson-Berna with Dr. H.D. McCarty officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org/donate) in the name of Janie Blaylock.
