Larry Marlin Johnson
May 31, 1937 - December 7, 2021
Larry Marlin Johnson, age 84, of Rogers, AR died peacefully with family by his side on December 7, 2021. He was born in Burdick, KS on June 31st, 1937 to Alvin and Velma Tiemeier Johnson. He married the love of his life, Glena Mae Suttie on the 5th of February, 1961. They only had a short 57 years together. He graduated K State University with an engineering degree and worked at manufacturing and environmental engineering for 39 years. Larry and Glena enjoyed many years with the Jaycees and Jaycettes. Family, church and hard work were core priorities for Larry. He was a member of and served Peace Lutheran Church for several decades and continued that service with the Living Word Lutheran Church. He would not have traded anything for his Friday mornings with the men’s group. For many years participating in, planning and helping facilitate the Via de Cristo (“Way of Christ”) weekends stoked and deepened Larry’s passion for his own Christian way and sharing that way with others. Like most boys raised in Kansas heartland, Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing and was athletic through middle age. Like his father, he loved tinkering and working in the shop. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Glena, his brother Loren Johnson and sister-in-law Carol Johnson. He is survived by; Brother Mike Johnson of Wichita, KS; Daughter Cindy Johnson and partner Rob Dix of Rogers, AR; Son Jay Johnson and partner Shaune Colwell of Fayetteville, AR; Sister-in-law Debbie Johnson; Nephews and Nieces: Caleb Bowers, David Johnson and Becky Jabarra of the Wichita, KS area; Jeff and Jenifer Johnson of Derby, KS; Todd Johnson of Lincolnton, NC; Daughter-in-law (by Jay’s former marriage) Kathleen Gunby and her sister Sherron Hays of Winslow AR; Grandson Zebediah Amparan of SanAntonio, TX; Granddaughter Amanda Amparan of Fayetteville, AR; Granddaughter Autumn Anderson of Winslow, AR; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren (you scamps know who you are). Visitation is Thursday, 12/16/21 from 5-7 at Nelson-Berna Funeral Services in Rogers. The memorial service will be held at Rogers Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 301 N 33rd St. at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, 12/17/21 with Pastor Richard A. Solberg officiating.
