Mary Catherine Mallioux Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mary Catherine Mallioux, 92, of Fayetteville, died Monday, June 20, 2022 at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. She was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Ripley, Tenn., to Marcus and Faye Williams. The best times of her life were those spent with family and close friends. She was a wonderful, sweet soul, caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend who will be very much missed. Catherine grew up on a family farm in Tennessee that was run by her father and her two brothers, Alex and Sam. After her mother left the home, Catherine became the head of the house as a teenager, cooking and doing all the domestic chores as her father and brothers worked the farm, while also attending school. She graduated from Harding University in Searcy, Ark., with a degree in accounting. After college she moved to Memphis, Tenn., where she started her career in accounting for a construction business. While in Memphis, she met Allen Mallioux and they married in 1952. They relocated to Indianapolis, Ind., Tucson, Ariz., and then back to Allen’s hometown of Harrison, Ark., where they lived the majority of their lives together. Catherine and her husband owned and operated a retail clothing store in Harrison for 17 years until they both retired to enjoy their later years together. While in Harrison, Catherine was a member and officer of many organizations including PEO and the Woman’s Book Club. She was a patron of the North Central Arkansas Concert Association and a Life Member of Friends of the Library of Boone County. In 2013, Catherine and her husband relocated to Fayetteville, Ark., to be close to, enjoy, and be cared for by family. The couple enjoyed a wonderful 63-year marriage until his death in 2015 from Alzheimer’s disease. She was a wonderful caregiver to Allen during his illness. Catherine lived her most recent years at Grand Village at Clear Creek in Fayetteville where she met new friends, reconnected with some old friends from Harrison, and enjoyed life with her beloved dog and best friend, Albert. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen Louis Mallioux; siblings Sam Grady Williams, Ripley, Tenn., and James Alexander Williams and his wife Edith of Knoxville, Tenn; a sister-in-law Jacquelyn Mallioux Fowler and her husband Dr. Ross E. Fowler of Harrison. She is survived by one son, Allen Ross Mallioux and his wife Terri; one grandson Trevor Ross Mallioux, who she was crazy about and gave her much joy, and a sister-in-law Monterrey Williams of Ripley, Tenn. Also preceded in death were best friends, Harry and Betty Shinall, formerly of Harrison. Catherine, Allen, Betty and Harry spent much time together and were more like family then friends. They are now back together again and ready for happy hour, a table of four for a great meal, and hours-and-hours of catching up. Catherine was a lifelong Christian, attending First Christian Church in Harrison, as well as First Christian Church in Fayetteville. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Grand Village for the love and care shown to Catherine. They also want to specifically extend thanks to Melissa and Tracy, caregivers for Elite Hospice; Stacia, Flora, Bobbi, Harley, Becky, Julie, Sandy, and Taylor from Home Helpers; the Prouty family; and Dr. Stanley Bradley and his staff at the Willard Walker Hospice Home for all loving Catherine like family. A graveside service will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 23rd at Maplewood Cemetery, Harrison, Ark., under the direction of Nelson Berna Funeral Home. Online condolences at www.bernafuneralhomes.com.
