Sid and family,I just today heard of Rita's death. I am so sorry for your loss. I'm also sorry that I didn't make the service. Had I known, I would have been there. Although I didn't know Rita well, I always felt a connection because I have her former Court Clerk position. She was a fine lady!

We have known Rita and Sid since we moved to Fayetteville in 1977. We have been the recipient of her warm and contagious smiles in many community settings, but I think my fondest memory of her is as she would be rolling her SUV down Pembroke Road on the way home and would come to a halt to have a neighborly visit. Dear Sid, You and I go back for 80 years beginning in Prescott, roommates at Henderson and in the many years since those days. You grief is deeply felt by Babs amd me. Rita was a light of your life and in turn ours. We would have loved being you on April 20. We want very much to be with you on May 11 at Henderson State University when you receive your Distinguished Alumni Award when your younger brother, Jim, is also honored with the same award. Rita will be with all of us on that day. You cherished Rita and were in turn cherished by her and all of your family and friends. Our hearts and prayers will be with you on April 20 and thereafter. I have known Rita Davis since my college days at the University of Arkansas in the early 1950's, and we have been friends ever since.I remember her not only as a friend, but as someone who was caring, witty, insightful, and with a great sense of humor.
