Val was a lovely lady. She was kind. She was thoughtful. She never forgot birthdays. Each June I always got a sweet card from her.
When Val moved to Arkansas from California to be near her daughter and son-in-law, she was introduced to the Brooks family. She quickly became a delightful addition to our family because family is about love. Our love for Val lives on in our hearts and memories.
Val and I shared a passion for reading. We liked to talk about the books that captured our hearts and imaginations and taught us new things. I always pictured Val with a cup of tea keeping her company as she read chapter after chapter in her latest book. She loved Earl Grey tea. I think Val might agree with C. S. Lewis who said, "You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me."
Val will be missed whenever the Brooks' cousins gather to celebrate our love for family.
