I was sitting at my desk today listening to last weeks sermon by Jody Farrell, when out of the blue he mentioned the passing of Doug. It was like a punch to the gut. Kim, my sincerest prayers and condolences go out to you and the kids. Doug always seemed larger than life, whether because of his big smile, engaging personality, good natured laughs, or all of the above. He treated everyone as though they were important and worth his time. I am honored and proud to call Doug my friend and brother in Christ. Reading comments left here are overwhelming and shows that he touched many lives and left the world a better place. Kim, your loss is very difficult, but may it be a comfort knowing that Doug is sitting at the feet of our Lord with a big grin, having a laugh and smiling down on you and your children.

I rarely saw Doug without a smile on his face, even when a frown would have been understandable. He had the gift of encouragement, and he always, always shared it with me. That gift blessed me even at times when he was far from being encouraged himself. His empathetic spirit will always be the part of him I will remember the most, and it will also be the part that I hope to emulate more from this day forward. Doug had a special place in my heart, and I know my late father, Bob, would say the very same thing. Doug, I will miss you for the rest of my life, but I will also look forward to eventually seeing you again for countless perfect days ahead.

Doug ,You left an incredible impact in the community! We met at OSU in 1981! You have a band of brother from the OSU family and we are brothers for ever! When we remember the glory years of our youth I always think of the wars we had on opposite sides of the ball and the joys of baseball side by side. Doug was a good kid but a great man. A true lifelong friend.

Doug was one of those few people who always had a smile on his face. We have loved serving alongside both Doug and Kim through the Walk to Emmaus and Timothy Team ministries. We can't imagine your loss Kim, Matthew and Lauren but we trust in the words of Paul in Philppians 1:21"For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." We look forward to the day that we will all meet again!

So sad to hear about this tragic news. Doug was a gret man always talk sports or how he look like phil Mickelson haha Heaven gained a good man prayers go out to the family. I waited on doug alot when he came through the bank to do his deposits.

I met Doug 20 plus years ago, he always had a smile on his face. I would eat at his restaurants and our families attended the same Church. We would talk football. Later we would battle on the field Coaching youth Football. He was a great Football coach. He coached with passion and willed his teams to victory. I will miss talking to Doug and my life is better by knowing him.

We have been so saddened to hear about Doug's passing, we have always enjoyed his smiling face in our restaurant and when we ate at his restaurants he always took great care of us. He was such a good person and great family man. he will be missed by many! God bless you and all your family and please let us know if there is anything you need.
