Larry G. Counts

Larry was a very compassionate man who battled his own problems unfortunately without the assistance of his peers despite them having full awareness of his need for help. He dedicated a large portion of his life to helping others yet could not ask for the help he needed for himself. It is a travesty that so many people seemingly ignored his need for help in order to maintain their own status quo. Itrued to help Larry but too many people stood in the way. I am sorry that I wasn't able to break down the barriers.

Larry was my 12 step sponsor in Little Rock at a crucial time in my recovery. He took me through the crucial 8th and 9th steps, which changed my life. He is the reason why I'm alive and well today, with over 18 years of clean time. I owe my life to him. Larry, wherever you are, I love you, dude. You will always have a special place in my heart. I will dearly miss my friend and long time colleague. We have worked in the field of addictions for over 25 years and I have always been able to count on him. The family has my sincere and heartfelt sympathy and prayers for your continued strength during the loss of your loved one.

Larry was the first Board Chairman that I worked under for the State Board of Examiners of Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Counselors in 2006. He touched my life with his kindness. He has been sorely missed on the board and I extend my heartfelt condolences to his friends and family. :-)Pam

Larry was truly one of a kind. He made me feel welcome and loved the very first day I met him. He made a big impression and taught me basic spiritual principles. We have stayed in touch over the years. I was so proud of all his accomplishments. I am shocked and stunned that he is gone. He was loved by so many.
