Merrilee was more than my sister; she was my closest friend. Even though she was older than me, we became thick as thieves as I grew up. Although we didn't spend a lot of time when we were children, due to the nearly 10 years apart, I remember the day she moved out of the house after getting married. I thought it was the best thing ever. It was that day I found out that I would get to have her bedroom … You see I had to share a bedroom for 10 until that day she left. I thought that was the ultimate. My sister was a prankster and enjoyed laughing and making others laugh. She always had a smile on her face and could brighten the darkest days. Merrilee would always have a joke or funny story to tell whenever I saw her and I loved her positive fun-loving attitude. Her imagination was beyond keen. Merrilee never told a lie. Merrilee just told the story in a way it would make you laugh. Merrilee was also a very compassionate person. She cared a lot for her friends and family and would do anything to help them. She was my parent's caregiver for several years before they passed. She invited them in her home and took the best care that anyone would dream of. She had the same care for animals and loved them as if they were one of us. She was one of the most loving and caring people that I have ever met. She was sensitive, compassionate & tenderhearted and loved her daughter unconditionally. Merrilee enjoyed cooking and baking could whip up dinner or dessert in 10 minutes. My mother used to ask her how something could be done so fast. I've witnessed it for myself, and honestly, I long for her lasagna more now than ever. Merrilee taught me the ins and outs of tole painting, a love and talent I didn't know I had. I paint up a storm to this very day. She loved gardening and planting flowers.. When she moved to Arkansas we would talk every day and compare gardening notes. We shared and loved the same hobbies and spent hundreds of hours together painting, and making crafts. She could decorate for any season and always had the most cheerful home because of her talent. Merrilee will always be remembered for her positive attitude, compassion, generosity and love for family. I am honored that Merrilee was my sister and will look back on our time together with fond memories. Merrilee, I will always remember you and the time we spent together. Your memory will live on in my heart forever. Thank you for being the best big sister in the world…. Until we meet again.

To the most beautiful Angel in all of God's Heaven, there aren't enough words to describe you and all that you are. You had the patience of Job, you were Love in every sense of the word. You endured more pain and suffering than anyone could ever know with hardly any complaining. You had true love and compassion for others and the little four legged animals too. You were the best friend, lover, companion and soulmate than any man could ever even dream of. You would always put others before yourself in every circumstance by sharing and caring. Aunt Merrilee was such a thoughtful, loving, sweet, caring and fun lady! I can still remember like it was yesterday the "huge" baby gift box she sent to us 10 years ago, when Thomas was about to be born. I was so surprised by this box that came in the mail and when I opened it, the gifts just kept coming! She had picked up a little here and there over a few months, as she had told me. While in the hospital giving birth to Thomas, she not only sent a congratulation email through the hospital that was delivered to my room but she phoned me during our stay! She loved, thought of and cared about us enough to take the time to let us know it. That meant the world to me! Aunt Merrilee had just started getting ill by the time Charlie was born, but she still made that call to us while we were there at the hospital and sent the loving email congratulating us. She and Uncle Jack both enjoyed our visits at their house while the boys were very young, as we were on our way to Branson. We love you Aunt Merrilee and will always have fond memories.
