Robert & Bill,My memories of your dad are related to hanging out and recording with Bill and (for some weird reason) wrapping Christmas presents one year at the house on Rocky Valley some time in the mid-80s. I remember that your dad and I had a great time. He was cracking jokes and it was a lot of fun. I have fond memories of him.It's always tough to lose a parent. I know you're going to miss him. Jan, it must be a comfort that you were near your father and could spend time with him before he passed away. I am so glad that you are part of my life now. Knowing you a little, I'm sure that Bob must have been a wonderful father. Dear Winifred, Jan. Diana, Robert, Bill, Jenny, Joe. Rob, Dan and Jessica,My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you today as I receive the news of Bob's passing. I knew him as a great husband, father, grandfather, friend and confidant to all of you. We have all lost a great man and a true American hero, a man that stood tall, yet was humble before God. I met him in 1967. He was Mr. Jagitsch to me then. It seems like it was just yesterday. Few people have had a real impact on me like Bob did. Yet he probably never really knew that he did. I know him as a man who put God, his family and his country before everything else. I only flew with him one time, but I knew instantly that he was one of the best. His professionalism as a pilot was unmatched and his love of flying was so obvious to everyone that knew him. I was just a kid then, kind of meandering through life and he saw that. He made a simple observation about it that made me want to be more of a leader than a follower from that point on in whatever I chose to do. When my draft number came up in 1970, I joined the Air Force, because of his influence on me. I served my country to the best of my ability, just as he did, at a time when many my age were trying to avoid serving. I learned what honor and duty meant because of that service, things that I knew were a big part of his life too. Though we never really talked about it, I'm sure he knew that would happen for me too. Even though my time in the Air Force resulted in us parting ways for many years, when I did finally speak to Bob again by phone it was as though we had last spoken only the day before. He thanked me for calling, yet I was the one who was even more thankful that I had.I am blessed to have known Bob. He came into my life at a time that I needed some redirection. He gave me that and I will forever be in his debt because of it. I'm sure I am just one of the many he touched in his own way without ever really knowing he had.May God be with all of you. Jan, so sorry to hear you've lost your Dad. May family and friends help you, your mother, and your son and daughter find peace in God's love as you grieve for the wonderful person who has gone to Heaven.
Jan, I am so sorry for your loss. My condolences to you, your children, and the rest of your family. I know you are so thankful that you were close by during this difficult time. I just didn't realize this was coming so soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you all, especially your mom. This is such a difficult time for you all. Your brother's FB tributes were beautiful. Mike Taylor called me from Houston to let me know that we lost our friend Bob Jagitsch. I forwarded the information to the elders of the Little Rock SDA church of which Bob had served as head elder. I am sorry to see Bob go.1 Thessalonians 4: 13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord's word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.
