In loving memory of Eddie w.jones
To Eddie's lovely wife, Maxine, his children, Colette, Chilesa, Wade, sister, Sheryl, and to the entire family of Dr. Eddie Jones:Maxine, I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of Eddie, whom I referred to as “The Voice & Music Doctor”. I would like to once again thank you and your family for your love and support over the years. I met Dr. Jones during my high school years at Nettie Lee Roth High School in Dayton, Ohio where he was then the voice instructor. He was very passionate about teaching voice and music. He was truly a great Christian man. Over the years he and you became my true brother and sister in Christ Jesus. I learned early that “Dr. Eddie Jones” was a perfectionist. I learned so much about how to breathe when one sings and studied different types of music through his tutelage. When he left Roth to pursue a doctors degree in music he returned to the Dayton area to offer a scholarship by allowing seniors to audition. He chose me and allowed me to come and sing in a world renowned choir at Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi. This was the first time that I had ever sung in a choir that every person in the choir could really sing. They were all gifted! I remember feeling excited and in awe and I thank him for that opportunity to sing with some of the best singers and to learn even more about my instrument under his direction. I realized that people came from all over the country to attempt to get the opportunity to sing in this renowned choir that sung all over the world.Maxine, you and he became my mentors and my friends. I thank you for the many times allowing me to enjoy your delicious cooking after sometimes practicing 3 hours or more with the choir. The cafeteria would be closed, but you guys made me feel right at home. Though I lived on campus I knew where I could always get a good home cook meal and enjoy true Christian love and fellowship. I also thank him for the opportunity and invitation to join the gospel feast several years ago at the University of Arkansas. Also, Donald and I appreciated both of you flying in and attending our Christian school graduation as honored guest where our brother Eddie gave an inspirational speech and charge encouraging the students to strive to be worshippers of God Almighty and keep their faith in Him and His son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to strive for excellence in life. The only thing that helps ease our heart break in losing our beautiful brother and friend is the assurance that such a wonderful Christian man is now present with the Lord. We will continue to be in touch. We love you all so very much.Your Brother and Sister in Christ Jesus,Donald and Lella (Bostock) McLemore, Sr. and Family
My dear Friend and Siater Maxine, I am JUST finding out about my Brother Eddie (Dr. Jones) TODAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2014. I am so sorry that i was unaware and unable to be with you and the family. You know how close you, Eddie and I were as Brothers and Sister in Christ. I am thankful though, that God put us in each other's lives so long ago, and that HE kept us as close as we were. He shall be missed, and it will take me a while to adjust. However, I CELEBRATE the fact that he loved the Lord and that he made such an impact on so many lives. May the STRENGTH of the Lord be with you. Love you. Herb (Dr. Herbert V.R.P.
