Dear Mary,

We were so sorry to hear about John's death. I don't have your mailing address so I can't send you a card, but I have cut out the obituary and will give it to you at the pool when I see you again.

I pray that you and your family feel God's love and presence and that all your needs are being met by your family and friends.

We are leaving for TX early tomorrow and are not able to come to the funeral.

Mary, John was such a fine fellow and I always looked foward to seeing "High Pockets" every time I went or stopped by your house. When the Lord made John, he broke the mold. He was "one of a kind" and such a friend to all who knew him. I'll miss his smile and friendship.
