Met Steve in about 1980. He was one of those friends that would do anything he could for a friend in need. When I saw him last, he was recuperating from his heart surgery last month. News of his passing was such sad news💔 You’ll be missed Steve!!!

First time I met Steve he was teaching a SIPP class. The night before class was to start Steve called, in a panic, very concerned, wanting to know if I had a place to stay because my travel did not show a hotel. He had been calling around trying to find me a hotel and was concerned about where I would stay for the night. I was in a hotel already and so it was all good but it warmed my heart that he didn’t know me from Adam but was making sure I was safe. Steve was like that about everyone. I will always remember his kindness, helpfulness and willingness to do anything needed. He will be missed.
I had the absolute pleasure of working for Steve for the last 3 years. He was the kind of supervisor that everyone dreams of getting. He always had my back, and was always more than willing to help no matter what kind of problem I had. Guys like him are far and few between, and I can honestly say, Steve Taylor was by far and away the best supervisor I have had in my 11 years with the bureau. May his family know that he was a very well thought of man, and will be greatly missed as both a supervisor and friend. Steven Baxter
Steve spent a lot of time encouraging those of us who worked under him. I was one of his field representatives for the U.S. Census Bureau. When I felt like quitting, he would say, "Just don't give up." I wouldn't give up because I never wanted to disappoint him. He spent time with every one of us on the phone getting to know us. He was encouraging and always nice because he said, "This job is hard enough." Once, when I threatened to quit, he told me he would not accept my resignation. I told him that he didn't seem to understand how this quitting thing works, because I would just stop showing up and working. But he told me I wouldn't because I din't have that kind of work ethic, and he was right. The truth is, I would have stayed at that job because of Steve. I'm still at that job because Steve and was anxiously waiting for him to come back. He anchored me to the team, he brought us all together, and nurtured every one of us. He was a great leader, and an even better friend, and I grieve for him deeply. I was lucky to be part of his life and his team. Rest in Peace, Steve. I love you...Judith Murray
What can I say. . . Steve was Steve!!! I described him to someone as a person who would give you the shirt off his back even if he didn't have one to spare. He looked out for everyone, always putting his needs last. Steve was more than my co-worker and cohort . . . he was my brother and one of my best friends. We spoke almost daily, sometimes for hours at a time, sometimes while we did our work to make sure we weren't doing our assignments wrong. He was a rock that kept me centered. He was the only person I would let get away with calling me a witch for not letting him take longer smoke breaks. He bought laughter and light into my life. He is a part of my heart and a part of my family, forever!!!! Although our time was brief, our work, our conversations, his presence at my daughter's wedding, his allowing me to see him for I didn't know was the last time, helped me to create "memories of a lifetime"!!!
