I am so sorry to hear about Garland. I did have the pleasure of speaking with him on the phone a few years back.
Garland and I served in the Air National Guard back in the 60s. I believe Garland was with the Arkansas Air Guard, and I was with the Pennsylvania Air Guard. We were in the same barracks at Kessler AFB in Mississippi. If I remember correctly, we both went to Electronics School, but I think we were in different classes.
Garland and I, along with Wesley Brauch from Ohio, became best of friends while there. We three were regulars at the Airman's Club. Garland was my dearest friend while there. I decided to try to find his phone number again, hoping to say Hello again. Instead, I came across his passing. Again, I am so sorry I was late in doing the search for his number. Garland was a man of God and I respected him so much. The way he conducted himself and how he was made me look up to him at church. He was always so nice to me, he would sit close by on Wednesday service in the front and we would have chats every now and then. I'm going to miss him so much and I know he is doing amazing things with our lord and savior. He will be missed and I can't wait to see him again.
