Alfhild (Petie) M. Maedl's Obituary
Mrs. Alfhild (Petie) M. Maedl, 91 of Fayetteville, AR passed away Sunday, May 13, 2007 in Fayetteville. She was born September 12, 1915 in St. Peter, MN to Dr. Conrad A. and Eda A. (Andersen) Peterson.
After graduating in 1935 from Gustavus Adolphus College, majoring in history and English, she taught English and social studies in Sauk Rapids, MN, from 1935 to 1938. She married fellow teacher, Carl F. Maedl, on August 8, 1938, and they left immediately to the Panama Canal Zone , where they lived for 32 years. Alfhild taught seventh and eighth grade English at Cristobal Junior-Senior High School and sixth grade at Margarita Elementary School on the Atlantic side.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, Northwest Arkansas Retired Federal Employees, and was active in the thrift store for Northwest Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary for 29 years.
She was preceded in death by her son Rick, Maedl.
She is survived by her husband Carl F. Maedl, two children; Patricia A. Krough of Minneapolis, MN, Pamela R. Gutowski of Charleston, IL, one brother; Carl L. Manfred of Minneapolis, MN, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Butterfield Trail Village Convocation Room with Reverend Bob Lutze officiating. Private burial services will be held at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Butterfield Trail Village Foundation Scholarship Fund
