Alice Virginia Long's Obituary
After a lifetime of faithful service to Christ, Alice Virginia Atkinson Long, 87, of Springdale and Fayetteville, went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, March 1st. She was born in Farmville, NC, July 4th, 1918 to Peyton and Carrie Vail Atkinson.
She attended college at East Carolina and worked for the U.S. Government at Ft. Bragg. She became Mrs. Wade Hampton Long on December 23, 1944. She spent her married years as a devoted wife and homemaker.
She was the mother of one son, Pastor Wade Hampton Long, Jr., currently of Rocky Ford, CO, and one daughter, Carolyn Tee Long, of Fayetteville. Virginia loved and took pride in her grandchildren, Olivia Vest of Biloxi, MS, Rachel Long of Missoula, MT, Simeon Long of Amsterdam, Holland, Payton Rosenzweig of New Orleans, LA and Asher and Hampton Rosenzweig of Fayetteville, AR.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 3rd, from 5-9 pm with family present to greet friends from 6-8 pm. Funeral services to be held Saturday, March 4th at 10 a.m. at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home at 4520 North Crossover Road in Fayetteville with Pastor Charlie Foster officiating. A private burial will follow at Priceville Cemetery in Tupelo, MS.
