Dr Herbert Allen McPherson's Obituary
Dr. Herbert Allen McPherson, Jr, 83, of Fayetteville, AR died on July 24th at Fayetteville City Hospital.
He was born on June 11, 1926 in Brownsville, TN to the late H.A. McPherson, Sr, and Elizabeth P. McPherson.
Herbert was a WWII Navy veteran and received his Bachelor of Science degree from from Louisiana State University where he was a member of the Tiger's marching band. He went on to earn a master's in invertebrate zoology before graduating as a MD from LSU School of Medicine in 1956. He was a member of Nu Sigma Nu medical fraternity and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
A member of Central United Methodist Church, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gloria, a son Allen, a sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Bill Shirley of Richardson, TX, and a granddaughter, Allie of Covington, LA.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday July 27th at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, donations in remembrance may be made to Central United Methodist located at 6 West Dixon, Fayetteville, AR 72701
Internment will be at a later date in Simsboro, LA.
