Alonzo Williams, Sr.'s Obituary
Alonzo Williams passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 5, 2024, in Bentonville, Arkansas, with his loving wife, Elizabeth, by his side. Born on May 12, 1946, in Perry, Florida, to Lamar and Lila Williams, Alonzo was a standout basketball and football player at Jerkins High School. Before enlisting in the United States Army, he married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth A. Hightower, with whom he shared 59 beautiful years of marriage. Their union was blessed with four children; Wanda Williams (Rodrick Stanford), Valisa Williams Keenan (Kenneth), Alonzo Williams, II (Jae), and Kimberly Wright (Jermaine). Alonzo was a devoted grandfather to Danielle Thornton (Sgt. Robert, deceased), Christopher White (Seriya), Kenneth Bryant, II (Danielle Treffi), Jermaine Jr., and Jordan Wright, as well as a proud great-grandfather to Jaylen, Kinsley, Tre, Tru, Maiyah, and Mariah, and step-grandchildren Amber, Anna, and Aiden. Alonzo’s legacy of resilience, strength, and perseverance lives on through the family who loved and cherished him. Alonzo earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) School of Business. He enjoyed a long and successful career, spending over 25 years as an insurance executive, and later becoming a business owner before retiring and relocating to Bentonville, Arkansas. He was a great communicator and never met a stranger. He was a master at causing smiles and laughter, which endeared him to all who had the pleasure of meeting him. Alonzo was preceded in death by his parents, Lamar and Lila Williams; sisters, Ella Mae Davis (Paul, Sr.) and Hattie Mae Easmon (Leroy, Sr.); nieces, Barbara Easmon and Gwen Davis; and nephews, Charles King, Jr., Willie C. Easmon, Leroy Easmon, Jr., Lamar Easmon, Charles Easmon, and Paul Davis, Jr.
He leaves behind a host of cherished relatives, including his nieces, Lila Menchan (Selena), Maxine Turley, Ella Mae Taylor, Betty J. Walker; nephews, Willie L. Easmon and Terry L. Easmon; brothers-in-law, Willie J. Hightower (Carolyn), Marquis Hightower (Linda), Christine Hightower (Terry, deceased), James L. Hightower (Angie), and Desi Hightower (Kersandras); along with a large extended family of great-nieces and great-nephews who will forever treasure his memory and legacy.
No local services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held in Florida at a later date.
