Anita Capstick's Obituary
Anita Juanda Capstick passed away on Palm Sunday, the first day of spring, March 20, 2016, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born on January 24, 1932 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Merle and Gladys Cannon. She was the fifth of six children. Anita’s early life was shaped by the Great Depression. She was very resourceful and determined to accomplish anything she set her mind to. Her life was epitomized by her strength. She had natural talent for music and was able to play any instrument by ear. She played the drums in her school band because she could already play everything else. When she was a teenager, she watched her brothers and schoolmates head off to fight in World War II. When the war ended she married her high school sweetheart. Anita was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville since 1957. She volunteered extensively at the church, the school, and for the youth group. She played piano accompaniment for decades of performances at Saint Joseph Catholic School, creating her own arrangements to any song requested. She had an abundance of love for all children. After raising her children, she devoted her time to her grandchildren. When she saw a need for childcare for mothers who worked unconventional hours she opened her home to provide support for women who would otherwise have struggled to find childcare during their working hours. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Gladys Marie Adams, two sisters, Geraldine Cannon and Bonnie Waters; two brothers Calvert and Gailen Cannon; two grandchildren Patricia Marie Waldroup and Thomas Edward Armijo. She is survived by her brother James Cannon and wife Sue of Edmond, Oklahoma; her children Daniel Capstick Jr. of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; Anita Roberts and husband Stephen of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Patricia Waldroup and husband Park of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Debra Lee and husband Tony of Woodinville, Washington; Alisa Simmons and fiance Bobby Miner of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Sheri Armijo and husband Steven of Little Rock, Arkansas; grandchildren Adrienne Dickson, Sara Capstick, Lauren Nicodemus, Anthony Simmons, Justin Capstick, Brittney Roberts, Danielle Waldroup, Bailey Simmons, Kristy Lee, Park Waldroup III, Devon Roberts, Patrick Waldroup, Daniel Lee, Katelyn Armijo; 7 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosary service will be 5:30 pm and visitation from 6:00 - 7:30 Tuesday March 22, 2016 at Moore's Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 1:00 pm Wednesday at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville with burial to follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel. Pallbearers will be Daniel Capstick Jr, Justin Capstick, Stephen Roberts, Park Waldroup Jr, Bobby Miner, and Steven Armijo. To place an online tribute visit www.mooresfuneralchapel.com
