I first met Ann from a letter. Christmas 1975, I was a marine aboard the USS Charleston when I received her letter introducing herself as my cousin Laura's friend. She became my dearest friend, and I miss her more than I can say.

Ann and I had worked together at Harps, starting in 2001. After I left, we not only kept in touch, but lunched together to celebrate our respective birthdays (April and December) and occasionally a mutual unbirthday (August). We enjoyed each other's take on things immensely, especially books, family attitudes and our house projects. Rest in peace. I will miss these conversations and extra celebrations so much. Layne Moore
