Anna Marie Barnes' Obituary
Anna Mae Barnes, 83, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 1, 2007 in Kansas City. She was born February 17, 1924 to Tom and Sally Ann Carter Barnes in Ozark, Arkansas. She attended Ozark Elementary School completing the 8th grade. There were ten brothers and sisters in the family to share happy times. Anna Mae joined her grandpa, I. D. Carter's Church, Shallow Methodist Church on his farm at an early age. She moved to Kansas City, Missouri and attended Ward Chapel A. M. E. Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Anna Mae was a member of the Usher Board. Her favorite songs where Soon and Very Soon, Going Up Yonder. She was a cook.
Anna Mae has a daughter, Diana L. Ray of Kansas City, Missouri. Anna Mae considered the Shaw family good neighbors. Her God Children referred to her as "Granny".
She is survived by three brothers; J. D. Barnes of Kansas City, Missouri, Arthur Barnes of Wichita, Kansas, Ulon Fae Barnes of Fayetteville, Arkansas, one sister; Dorothy Baker Wilks of Fayetteville, Arkansas, a daughter, Diana L. Ray of Kansas City, Missouri, one aunt; Mary Jane Carter of Independence, Kansas, a cousin; Will Ella Payne, a life long friend. A host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, June 8, 2007, at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 115 South Willow Ave., Fayetteville, Arkansas 72701, with Rev. Curtis Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Beam Cemetery in Lincoln, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be, Floyd Barker, Bobby Barker, Sr., Lafayette Barker, Bobby Barker, Jr., Jerome Barker and Jerry Funkhouser.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM till 9:00 PM, Thursday, June 7, 2007, with the family-receiving friends from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM.
