Anna R. McGuire Fields' Obituary
Anna R. McGuire Fields, 79 of Tulsa, OK passed away September 14, 2012 in Tulsa, OK. She was born November 1, 1932 in Fayetteville, AR to the late Phillip McGuire and Josephine (Webb) McGuire. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers; Lloyd McGuire, John McGuire, Billy Sutton, a cousin who was like a brother; Floyd Sutton, and her husband Henry Fields.
Anna grew up in the Fayetteville area. She graduated high school and was a telephone operator. On June 1, 1959 she married Henry Fields. She raised three children and followed Henry through four states until they landed finally in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She went back to work as a cafeteria manager of Tulsa Public Schools. Shortly after retiring, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought a brave battle and was a cancer survivor of 17 years. She was a loving grandma to her grandchildren and enjoyed many trips with them. She went overseas with Henry to Germany and Bosnia. Her greatest joy was her family. She was a 36 year member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Tulsa. She enjoyed teaching in Sunday School and was active in several vacation bible schools.
She is survived by three children; Kathy Fields, Phillip Fields and his wife Sue May, Michelle Fields Butler and her husband Richard, Six grandchildren; Luke Meeks, Dayna Meeks, Jordan Fields, Kyla, Marissa and Corinne Butler, her brother in law; David Fields and wife Laura, her sister-in-law; Nina Haas and her husband Melvin, her sister-in-law; Carolyn Sutton, her step-sister; Marion Brand, her cousin who was like a sister; Lenora Sutton, and several family members of cousin, nieces, nephews whom she loved dearly and counted herself blessed to have them as a part of her life.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday September 18, 2012 in the Chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM until service time. Burial will follow at Mt Comfort Cemetery in Fayetteville.
