Arlis E. Smith's Obituary
Arlis E. (Smitty) Smith, age 75, of Elkins died Friday November 16, 2012 in Fayetteville. He was born April 20, 1937 in the Whitehouse Community to Audie and Clarsey Richardson Smith. He owned Smitty’s Cafe in Elkins for many years and loved to camp and deer hunt.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kade Whitney, and two great-grandsons, Dakota Stockton and Kenny Williams III.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Francia Grogan Smith, three daughters: Frankie Edwards and husband, Mike of Fayetteville; Shelly Whitney and husband David of Elkins; Debbie Stockton and husband Richard of Elkins; a son Joey Smith and wife Loyce of Elkins; a brother Billy Charles Smith and wife Janet of Elkins; twelve grandchildren: Chris Edwards, Nick Edwards, and Jeremy Edwards, Leisa Stockton, Jimmy Stockton, Richard Stockton, Hope Butcher, Steven Whitney, Lane Whitney, Shasta Williams, Ashley Adams, and Hailey Smith and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Whitehouse Community Church with burial following in Whitehouse Cemetery under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
