Biography
Arthur Clifton Pummill, age 101, of Fayetteville, was welcomed home to be with his Lord Monday, May 26, 2014. He was born April 6, 1913 near Long Lane, Missouri, the son of Richard and Anna Veda Berry Pummill. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Edna Malinda Buffington Pummill; a son, Arthur Richard “Dick” Pummill and a grandson, Jimmy Pummill.
Arthur was a member and deacon emeritus of Covenant Presbyterian Church for over 30 years and member of Sons of the American Revolution. He was in the 13th Cavalry, one of the last horse cavalry units at Ft. Riley, Kansas in the early 1930’s. Arthur and his wife moved to Fayetteville from Kansas City, Missouri in 1962.
He is survived by three sons, Jim Pummill of Overland Park, Kansas, Frank Pummill and wife Ina May of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Kenneth Joe Pummill and wife Patti of Fayetteville, Arkansas; a daughter, Beverly Jean Sage of Kansas City, Missouri; eight grandsons, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Moore’s Chapel. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas with Dr. Paul Sagan officiating. Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. in the Fayetteville National Cemetery, under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
