Reverend Gordon A. Speak's Obituary
Reverend Gordon A. Speak, 71 of Fayetteville, AR went to live with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in Fayetteville, AR. He was born September 17, 1936 in Des Moines, IA to William Riley Speak and Bertha Faye (King) Speak.
He was a retired Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army after 22 years of service with tours of duty in France, Germany and Viet Nam and a retired International Four Square minister and spent 35 years in the ministry. He graduated from the Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in California, and attended John Brown University and the University of Arkansas. He was a member of the National Association for Amateur Radio and the International Net Inc. He was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing and church fellowship.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Glenn Speak, and two sisters; Joye Speak and Marilyn Fuller.
He is survived by his wife Melpha Speak, one son; Riley Speak and wife Dawn of Watertown, TN, one daughter; Joye McEntee and husband Henry of San Lorenzo, CA, two step sons; Bruce Southern of Farmington, AR, Jerald Southern and wife Beverly of Prairie Grove, AR, one step daughter; Lisa Southern Cooley and husband Glen of Fayetteville, AR, one sister; Carolyn Sharon and husband Charles of Centralia, MO, ten grandchildren, Bradley McEntee, Kyle McEntee, Joshua McEntee, Lia Speak, Krystina Southern, Tyler Southern, Trenton Southern, Tanner Southern, Travis Southern, and Colton Cooley.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2008 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville, AR.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home at 12:30 PM, Monday March 17, 2008 with Reverends Troy Robinson and Billy Burks officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assn. or to the Diabetes Assn.
