Barbara (Bobbie) Ann Guye's Obituary
Barbara (Bobbie) Ann Guye, beloved mother and grandmother left this world for her heavenly home on May 27, 2008. She was born December 23, 1928 in Loveland, CO and raised on a ranch in Masonville, CO. She graduated from high school at Aurora, Co in 1944 and was married to Thomas S. Myers on June 26, 1947.
She is survived by her son Thomas O. Myers and his wife Vici of Towanda, KS and her daughter Christina B. Peterson and her husband Steve of Springdale, AR. Other survivors include 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, her sister Wilma Hersh of Masonville, CO, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She loved horses. And, after getting her start on Chico became an avid horseman who loved and participated in rodeo. She enjoyed music and as a teenager she sang with her sister on a local radio station.
She became a gifted reporter, writer and editor contributing numerous articles to a variety of horse publications including the Capital Horseman, the Quarter Horse Journal and many newsletters of various organizations.
She spent many hours knitting and baking as well as singing and playing the guitar for her loved ones. Her lap was a favorite place for her grandchildren, because she was patient and loving, and she had "wheels".
Confined to a wheel chair since early adulthood and in spite of many challenges with her health and battles with chronic pain she dedicated countless hours to the Ft. Collins, CO Handicap Information Office. She was instrumental in getting numerous barriers removed for the disabled in the community and was co-founder of FREE, Front Range Exceptional Equestrians in Larimer County.
She often received recognition for her many efforts and was especially honored to receive the prestigious "9 Who Care" award from Channel 9 out of Denver, CO. But, more importantly she received the love and respect of the many lives she touched and inspired.
She leaves a legacy of incredible courage and an indomitable spirit. She gave when most would have given up. She lived long after most would have lay down and died. In the small delicate frame of this feisty yet gentle cowgirl lived a strong and mighty heart of a champion and a beautiful princess.
Happy trails Mom, Grandma! Because of Jesus, we don't have to say goodbye, but "see you soon, when the Son is rising in the eastern sky."
