Barbara Keller's Obituary
Barbara Keller transferred to on High January 16, 2025. Barbara was born December 12, 1942, in McKenzie, TN. She graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1960. She received her bachelor’s degree from Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, TN 1964. In 1977 she earned a Master of Arts at Adams State College in Alamosa, CO.
She began her teaching career in Kremmling, CO where she met her husband, John L. Keller. They were married June 11, 1965, in Granby, CO. Moving to Cortez, CO she taught there before moving to Durango, CO in 1967. She taught for 16 years in Ignacio, CO near the Southern Ute Indian Reservation and taught for 18 years in Farmington, NM. Retiring in 1998 she substituted in the Bayfield and Ignacio school districts.
Barbara was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Retired Teachers at the time of her death. She was an active member of Southern Baptist Churches all of her life, serving in many positions. Mission work was her joy.
She is preceded in death by her parents Dona and Hildra Palmer and husband John L. Keller. She is survived by her sister Charlotte S Palmer.
Visitation will be 1:30 pm – 2:00 pm Tuesday January 21, 2025 at First Baptist Church in West Fork, Arkansas. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in West Fork following the visitation. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens on Hwy. 22, in Carroll County TN, Thursday January 23, 2025. Local arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
