Barbara Jean Linberger's Obituary
Barbara Jean Lineberger, age 89, of Rogers, Ark., passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark., surrounded by family and friends. She was born on January 6, 1937, in Dallas, Texas, the only child of Nell and Foster Fox. Shortly after her birth the family moved to and lived in Texarkana, Texas.
Barbara graduated from Texarkana Texas High School, Texarkana Junior College and attended the University of Arkansas. She married her high school sweetheart, John, and they enjoyed a marriage of 72 years. She is survived by her husband, Judge John Lineberger, a daughter, Debbie Miller (Richard) and son, Rocky Lineberger (Felicia); seven grandchildren, Mitzi Holliday, Brett Miller (Yukimi), Shawn Miller, Kaylee Miller, April Cortez (Marcus), Erin Wolfenbarer (Andy), and Chris Mendes (Jewlee); seventeen great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.
While John was in Law School, Barbar worked as the Secretary for the University of Arkansas History Department. There she enjoyed typing many scholarly books written by the learned professors. That was an education in itself. Later she served as a driver’s license examiner for the Arkansas State Police. That job taught her patience.
Barbara loved to entertain others. For many years she and her husband treated the lawyers of northwest Arkansas with an annual fish fry and boat rides on Beaver Lake. She made the hush puppies from scratch and provided the wit, charm and the friendliest smiles in the crowd.
She thoroughly enjoyed fishing and boating on beautiful Beaver Lake. And for years she was a member of the Beaver Lake Boat Club.
Barbara also loved to travel and to play video poker.
She had the privilege of visiting 49 states in the United States, plus Canada, Mexico, four Bahama Islands, seven Caribbean islands, England, Ireland and the former soviet Republic of Georgia. She didn't often reveal, however, the product of her video poker games.
Barbara's family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Circle of Life team for the compassionate care and support they provided Barbara and her family during her final days.
A celebration of life will be held at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville, Ark., at 10:00 a.m., on July, 15, 2026.
Memorial contributions may be to Circle of Life Hospice Home at Legacy Village, 1201 NE Legacy Parkway, Bentonville, Arkansas 72712.
