Barbara Jean Meek's Obituary
Barbara Jean Meek, age 84, of Fayetteville, Arkansas passed away Monday, October 16, 2023. Family and friends comforted her during her final days at the Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas.
Barbara was born November 27, 1938, to Wilson and Jeannette (Bitner) Sites in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She had a successful career as a legal secretary and volunteered at the Dallas Zoo as the Gorilla Guide. She was naturally curious about other people and made friends easily. Her warm smile and easygoing manner won the hearts of many.
Barbara is survived by son, Steven Elwell (Jim Guerra) of Ennis, TX; son-in-law, Gregory Lee of Richardson, TX; son, Mike (Carolyn) Meek of Fayetteville, AR; son, Patrick (Diane) Meek of Fayetteville, AR; daughter, Angela (Mike) Crawford of Fayetteville, AR; son, Fred (Kerri) Meek of Bella Vista, AR; four grandchildren, and a brother, John Ruehle. She also leaves behind her little companion dog, Molly. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, her husband, James L. Meek, and her daughter, Deborah K. Lee.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 27, 2023, at Moore’s Chapel, 206 West Center St. Fayetteville, AR 72701.
