Barbara Jean Osing's Obituary
Barbara Jean Osing, a devoted servant of Christ and beloved member of the Fayetteville community, she was born in Alma, Missouri, to Albert and Erna (Franz) Schuette. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma, where her lifelong faith in Christ was first nurtured.
Barbara graduated from Alma High School and later moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas, where she made her home and raised her family.
For over 54 years, she was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she joyfully served in many ways. Her deep love for the church was evident in her involvement with the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), her enthusiasm for church potlucks, and her steadfast presence in worship and fellowship.
Barbara worked in Food Services at the University of Arkansas and gave generously of her time and energy as a volunteer with CEO (Cooperative Emergency Outreach).
She never missed a chance to cheer on her beloved Arkansas Razorbacks.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Marsha Hayes of Fayetteville, Gerald Osing of Alma, Missouri, and Tim Osing of Fayetteville; her grandchildren; Sarah, Steven, Adam, and Josie, her great-grandchild: Flamery; and her brothers, Gary (Butch) Schuette of Alma, Missouri, and Steven Schuette of Cuba, Missouri. She will also be dearly missed by the many friends and fellow saints she served alongside in church and community.
A funeral service celebrating Barbara's life in Christ will be held 10:00 am Saturday August 2, 2025 at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Fayetteville with a private burial at Fairview Memorial Gardens at a later time. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
Barbara found great comfort in the words of Psalm 23, which reflected her deep trust in the Good Shepherd who now leads her to dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Flowers are welcome, and memorial gifts may be designated to St.
John's Lutheran Church and CEO where Barbara faithfully served her Lord and His People.
