Berneice Knight Markey's Obituary
Berneice Knight Markey, 84 of Springdale, AR passed away Sunday, May 3, 2009 in Springdale, AR. She was born December 12, 1924 in Rocky Comfort, MO to Russell B. Knight and Viola Jane (Hinds) Knight. She was the retired co-owner and operator of Markey’s Jewelers in Harrison, AR and a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springdale, AR.
A son Jeffrey D. Markey and a brother Marcell Knight preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gerald E. Markey, two sons; William M. Bivin of Fayetteville, AR Gerald E. Markey, Jr. of Springdale, AR, two daughters; Jo H. Champion of Springdale, AR, Susan M Perrine and husband Michael of Longmont, CO, four grandchildren; Stephanie Fincher and husband Philip of Estero, FL, Michael Drew Champion and wife Shellie of Bentonville, AR, Sam Perrine of Longmont, CO, Danine Branson of Overbrook, KS, 10 great grandchildren; Brittany Mateika of Ft. Myers, FL, Melissa, Elizabeth, and Blake Fincher of Estero, FL, Ashton Champion of Shawnee, OK, Mahala, Charlie, Barbara Sue and Georgie Branson of Overbrook, KS, Winston Connor III of Grove, OK, one brother; Jerry Haught and wife Diane of Neosho, MO, two sisters-in-law; Anna Knight of St. Paul, KA, Mary Harter of Billings, MO, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Rosary being recited beginning at 7:30 PM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springdale, AR with Father John Antony officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Christian Children’s Fund, 2821 Emerywood Parkway Richmond, VA 23294.
