Betty Sue Jackson's Obituary
Betty Sue Jackson, 85, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, in Rogers, Arkansas, surrounded by loved ones. On November 6, 1939, Sue was born in her grandparents’ farmhouse in Scott, Arkansas. Along with her parents and little brother, she adored her aunts, uncles, and cousins and often shared fond memories of growing up on the farm. Graduating high school early at the age of 16, Sue then began nursing school at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. It was there that she met Bobby Damon Jackson, the love of her life, in a social dance class. They were wed on November 1, 1958, and spent the next 65 years devoted to each other. Together, they loved to travel, garden, and collect art and antiques.
In the early years of their marriage, Bob and Sue had three children while moving frequently for Bob’s career in the oil and gas industry. They ultimately settled in Rogers, where they founded Ozark Mountain Propane Company in 1994. In addition to supporting Bob’s career and raising their family, Sue worked for 20 years as a sales associate at Dillard’s in Tulsa and Fayetteville. Sue also volunteered at the Samaritan House thrift store as well as Horses for Healing of Northwestern Arkansas, working with children with disabilities.
Sue’s greatest legacy will be her love and dedication to her family. As “Mom” and “Nana,” she adored her children and grandchildren and ensured they always felt supported and cherished. An avid reader, Sue would go to the library to research cooking, decorating, and exploring other cultures, engendering a love of learning in her children. Sue also had an innate ability to make everything beautiful, whether through her colorful flowers, homemade meals, or her elegant sense of style.
Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bobby Damon Jackson; her parents, Lonnie and Betty Fore; and her grandson, Wesley Jackson. She is survived by her three children, Damon Jackson, Jodi Jackson, and Jennifer Jackson-Stowe; her grandchildren, Jennifer “Jaycie” Jackson, Sarah Stowe and Jackson Stowe; and her great-granddaughter, Sophie Jackson. Sue is also survived by her brother and his wife, Rick and Margaret Fore and her aunt, Wanda Weise, as well as a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces.
A visitation with the family will be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 8, 2025, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home Rogers with Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
