Beverly Dawn Gunter's Obituary
Beverly Dawn Gunter (age 75) lovingly known as “Granny,” passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, in Fayetteville, Arkansas surrounded by the family she loved so fiercely. She was born on September 6, 1950, in South Dade, Florida and spent her life leaving an unforgettable mark on everyone lucky enough to know her. Beverly was a project manager for Bechtel Fluor Daniels. In time, she enjoyed spending her time with her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Glen Breese and Esther Fritz Breese, her daughter, Dawn Gunter, two brothers, Micheal Richard and Dick Allen.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Gunter Smootz; a sister, Richelle Breese; her granddaughters, Ashley Gunter, Audrey Collins, Taylor Goree (Lance), Hayley Meredith and Genoah Kendrick (Lawrence); and two great- grandchildren, Rylan and Lathan Meredith; and many other family and friends who were loved so dearly by her.
To know Beverly was to know strength. She was the definition of tough love, a true spitfire who never sugarcoated a thing, never hesitated to tell you exactly what she thought and somehow always made you laugh while doing it. If you needed honesty, she gave it. If you needed encouragement, she gave that too, even if it came wrapped in a little sass. She was the glue that held her family together, the one who kept everyone in line. She loved deeply even if she didn’t always say it in the traditional ways. Her actions spoke louder than words ever could.
She leaves behind a family who adored her and who will continue to honor her by loving fiercely, laughing often and showing up for one another the way she always did.
There will never be another Beverly Dawn Gunter. Her strength, humor, stubbornness, and unwavering love have shaped generations, and her legacy will live on in every family gathering, every shared laugh, every honest conversation and every story told about “Granny.”
There will be no formal services. Cremation is under the direction of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home.
