I don’t have any memories of Bill myself, but my dad was Max Burger. He owned and operated Birger Motor Company in Bentonville for years. He was a huge Arkansas Razorback fan - all sports. He often talked about how much fun it was to watch Bill play. As Bill progressed out of college my dad continued to watch his career and his achievements. He had the highest respect for Bill Burnett.
Dear Linda and Family,
I still remember the first time Susan and I met Bill. I was in my first year of coaching at Benton Westside Jr. High and Bill called on me in the fall of 1974. He encouraged me to take some Jr. High athletes to the very first Jr. High National Conference at the FCA National Resource Center in Marshall, Indiana. I was able to take 11 athletes to that camp and saw several lives impacted for Christ. I was hooked! It has been a privilege for us to walk along beside him and Linda as we served in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as a Coach, Volunteer and eventually as a staff person for 17 years.
Needless to say he had a very big impact on my life.

I was the art teacher at Ozark High School from 1973 to 1885. I was asked by the coaches if I would be the FCA sponsor there. I had no idea how to go about it and obviously needed help. That’s when I first met Bill. He came to my house and helped me get going and spoke to the student body that day. The Lord used him greatly! 🙏
