Billy Brooks Sullivan's Obituary
Mr. Billy Brooks Sullivan, 87 of Fayetteville, AR passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2006 in Fayetteville, AR. He was born January 16, 1919 in Keifer, OK to William and Beulah (Gann) Sullivan. Growing up in the era of the Roaring Twenties and later the Great Depression, Billy learned from an early age the fleeting nature of worldly possessions and the importance of family and friends.
When the United States entered World War II, Bill volunteered to join the armed forces. Being unable to pass the physical exam but dauntless in his desire to contribute, he turned his diligence to the industrial effort to support our troops and country. His efforts have been recognized, along with those of the valorous men and women who served in combat, on the WW II Memorial in Washington D.C.
Over the course of his career, Bill Sullivan was involved in sales. A handsome man with a charming personality, he sincerely enjoyed socializing with people from all walks of life. After retiring from business, he became active in the local Northwest Arkansas community by providing counseling and wisdom to many in need, though he often preferred to remain anonymous.
Along with his other accomplishments, Bill Sullivan was a black belt in karate (AFKA - 5th dan). Even into his later life, Bill?s stature, grace, and sense of self - balance were qualities that inspired others who knew him in so many ways.
