Bonnie O. Barney's Obituary
Bonnie O. Barney of Fayetteville passed away on Monday April 18, 2016. Bonnie worked as an administrative assistant for Gulf Oil in Salt Lake City, Utah where she met her husband, Emmet Barney. They lived in several western states before moving to south Arkansas in 1975. Eventually, they moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas in the mid-1980s After raising her family, she returned to work as the Scholarship Coordinator for the University of Arkansas Alumni Association. She worked there until she retired, touching many lives along the way. Bonnie was an avid outdoors-person that enjoyed snow skiing and hiking in the mountains of Utah. She was an extraordinary cook, creating countless memorable holiday meals. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Asbury Sunday School class. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Emmet, her sister Norma Southworth, her mother Gladys, father Lloyd, and stepfather Henry. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by many. She is survived by her daughter, Becky Barney Goff and her husband, Ken of Farmington, two sons, R. Stuart Barney and his wife Angela of Phoenix, Arizona, and Robert Barney and his fiancee Lisa Davis of Greenville, Texas. She had six grandchildren, Mackenzie and Lauren Goff of Farmington, Coleman and Bruce Barney of Greenville, Texas, and Holden and Jase Barney of Phoenix, Arizona, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends around the world. Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday. April 21, 2016 at Moore’s Chapel. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Friday at Central United Methodist Church followed by burial at Fairview Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
