I was in my last 2 semesters (80-81) at the UofA when Buddy and the group of men that lived in his home took me in and provided me with acceptance, love, and friendship. He provided a safe sanctuary for me to live in with him and our brothers at his house during those last two semesters. Simply put, Buddy, like our Lord, was full of love, and was love... Even though I was reserved, lonely, and had a small amount of self confidence, Buddy loved me and saw some value in my life. Buddy simply loved everyone and saw their value as human beings, plus he was FUN... I will always be grateful for the love that Buddy shared with me and the learned value of loving all others... It has been over 2 months and it is now the change of seasons that you continued to talk of....I heard the ducks yesterday and knew you were close...as I watch the leaves fall, I think of you and miss you even more than I thought I would....each day that passes brings me closer to the time when we will laugh again....my heart is not yet to the place where I can remember and laugh....it is too heavy...You are with me....as you promised and that is my only comfort.

I was a student when Buddy was the Pastor of Students. I always loved and admired Buddy, his way of encouraging and lifting up others. He overlooked my immaturities and loved me in spite of myself. I remember being at his home with he and his parents in Danville in 1973-4 and his mom fixed the most delicious meal i have ever had. Afterwards we just sat outside and enjoyed the beauty of the countryside--and each other. Buddy, and his family, are all about people, all about relationships and had time for everyone. I was out of the country at the time of his sickness. I wish I could have seen him one last time. I am confident I will get to have a long talk with him in glory someday. He can catch me up on the final 25 years of his life. I am grateful for your life Buddy. Love in Christ, Steve Shadrach

I remember Buddy so well. I broke his classes at Hardin Bale Elementary when we were playing football or baseball. I lost contact with him over the years, but remember him as a gentleman and a happy, wonderful man. It is always hard to lose a loved one, but a brother and a younger one, too. I lost my older brother Nick a few months ago, so I can relate.

These are great memories, but what I treasure most are the things I now carry in my heart that Buddy passed on to me. Much of what I am was instilled in me by Buddy. He didn?t preach but rather he led the way. I hope I can also lead others as he did. If I can do that, many others (and I) will one day find ourselves in the company of Buddy. That is the place I want to go when it?s my time.

Georgia you are a great cook but the best thing you ever cooked up was Buddy. Thank you for the great meals but most of all thank you for giving us Buddy.

We are so very sorry for your loss, but rejoice with Buddy as he enters the presence of The Great Shepherd.
Now Buddy can climb into the arms of The Shepherd, and rest.
