Byron M. Haines' Obituary
Byron M. Haines, 96, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and formerly of Middletown, Ohio, died Friday, July 22, 2011, at Fayetteville, Arkansas. Born January 22, 1915, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the Reverend Orion Pfeiffer Haines and Bertha Elizabeth Haines.
He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, and later received the Executive Award from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration of Dartmouth College for completing the course of study prescribed by the Credit Research Foundation of the National Association of Credit Management.
After 37 years of service he retired from Armco Steel Corporation in 1973 as Division Credit Manager. He and his wife moved from Middletown, Ohio to Fayetteville in 1979.
He was a deacon and elder and former trustee of the First United Presbyterian Church of Fayetteville. He was a former member of the Lions Club, a former member of the Corporate Board of Butterfield Trail Village, a past president of the Residents’ Council of the Village, a former director of the Ozark Food Bank, a life member of the National Association of Credit Management, and a member of The Order of St. Luke the Physician.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline L. Haines, and his son, Larry K. Haines. He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Andrea T. Haines of Dallas, Texas, four granddaughters, Julia Wrabl of Baltimore, Maryland, Susan Haines of San Francisco, California, Katherine Schwind of Burleson, Texas, Carolyn Haines of Wichita Falls, Texas, four great grandchildren, and close friend and companion Janet Parks.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Butterfield Trail Village with Phil and Jan Butin officiating. Private entombment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Fayetteville, under the direction of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Butterfield Trail Village Foundation, 1923 E.
