Carl Eugene Combs' Obituary
Carl Eugene “Curly” Combs, 83, of Springdale passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, in his home. He was born July 9, 1942, in Durham, Arkansas to Bill and Rachel Hankins Combs. He attended Springdale Schools and the University of Arkansas. He was a lifetime supporter of the Springdale Bulldogs and the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Curly began a 20-year career at Sears, Roebuck and Co. at the age of 16. He left Sears to begin a 30-year career in the tire business where he later worked alongside his two sons. Additionally, He served in the Airforce in Japan during the Pueblo crisis. Curly was a proud member and alumni supporter of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, and a past president of Springdale Country Club.
Curly is survived by his wife of 56 years, Clydia Combs; two sons, Justin Combs and his wife Karrie of Springdale and Lex Combs and his wife Becky of Springdale; one sister, Georgie Evans and her husband Hoover of Houston, Texas; his brother, Jim Combs and his wife Esta of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Emily Kate Davis and her husband Denver, Linden Grace Combs, Carter Reed Combs and Blakelyn Gayle Combs; and his faithful dog, Buddy.
Curly’s Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, August 8th, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church in Springdale with visitation following the service. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s chapel in Fayetteville.
