Carl D. Lewis Sr.'s Obituary
Carl D. Lewis, age 89, of Durham, Arkansas went to be with Jesus on Saturday June 25, 2011 in Durham. He was born July 22, 1921 in Durham, Arkansas to Noel Wilson and Anna Belle Springston Lewis.
He was a Protestant, served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines. He was a lifetime member of the Combs VFW Post, worked as a Union Carpenter for more than thirty years; in 1977, he received an AGC (Associated General Contractors) award for outstanding craftsmanship. After his retirement he ran a beef cattle farm in Durham Community. He also was an avid Saint Louis Cardinal Baseball fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Lewis and one brother, Clyde Lewis.
He is survived by three sons, Carl D. Lewis Jr. and his wife Kathy of Durham, AR; Kelley Lewis and his wife Linda of Farmington, AR; Dana Lewis of Durham, AR; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday June 29, 2011 at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville with burial at McCord Cemetery in Durham, Arkansas under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
Pallbearers will be John Lewis, Kevin Lewis, Dana Lewis, Kelley Lewis, Justin Hankins and Eugene Springston. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Cassidy and Bob McChristian.
