Carol Gail Schoen's Obituary
Carol Gail Schoen, age 74, of Fayetteville, Arkansas died peacefully with her husband and children by her side at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas on January 11, 2023. She was a kind soul who loved abundantly and will be remembered as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who valued family above all else.
Carol was born September 8, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri to Neota and William Denkmann. She earned a Bachelor of Education from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and loved the field of education both as a school teacher and later a volunteer for the Fayetteville Public School for many years. She enjoyed crafting and was gifted at quilting and cross-stitching. Carol never met a stranger, always speaking to those she encountered whether at the grocery store checkout, in a waiting room, or at the gym. She fiercely loved spending time with her grandchildren, passing on family traditions and teaching them how to bake, sew, and serve others. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.
She will be deeply missed by those who knew her and especially by her surviving family, including her beloved husband of 53 years, Dale Schoen, daughter Lisa Johnson, son Brian Schoen and daughter-in-law Kelli Coughlin Schoen, sister Janet Rhodes and husband Charles, four grandchildren, Carter and Tyler Johnson, Julia and Annelise Schoen, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 13, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00PM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Arkansas. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Central Methodist Church at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in her honor may be made to the Fayetteville Public Library Foundation, 401 W. Mountain St., Fayetteville, AR 72701 or Genesis Church Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1106, Fayetteville, AR 72702.
