Carole Whiteside's Obituary
Carole Whiteside, 77 of Fayetteville, AR passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at her home. She was born September 1, 1934 in Haskell, OK to Hoy Jean Dowdy and Leta (Sandefur) Dowdy.
She was a homemaker and a member of University Baptist Church in Fayetteville. She attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, TX until marrying her high school sweetheart.
She was honored to be a wife, mother, and grandmother and considered her family and friends to be her most precious gifts in her life. Her sense of humor and quick wit were ever present. She brought immense joy and happiness to the lives of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, W. Scott Whiteside.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dr. Edwin Whiteside, four children; Kirk Whiteside of Lowell, AR, Susan Roberts and husband Gregg of Ft. Smith, AR, Dr. Tom Whiteside and wife LaDawna of Fayetteville, AR, David Whiteside of Fayetteville, AR, one sister; Shirley Hastings of Gainesville, Georgia, one brother; Terry Dowdy and wife Madeline of Leander, Texas and seven grandchildren, Christen and Joshua Roberts, Christopher Whiteside, Taylor, Alex, Madelynn Carole, and Cruse Whiteside.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 28, 2012 at University Baptist Church with Dr. H.D. McCarty and Dr. Mike Lumpkin officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
