Cecil Brown's Obituary
Cecil Ewell Brown age 89 of Springdale died Wednesday, February 18, 2004 in Springdale. He was born January 24, 1915 in Hillsboro, Texas the son of Ewell J. and Pauline Ansley Brown. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and attended Hillsboro Junior College. He owned and operated the Otasco store in Springdale for 47 years and Jumbo Motor in Springdale for 20 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Springdale for 62 years, chairman of the Ozarks Administration Board, Rotary Club, Rodeo of the Ozarks board, president of the Chamber of Commerce and received outstanding citizen award in 1972. He was on the Springdale planning commission for 15 years and was Grand Marshall for the Rodeo of the Ozarks parade in 2002. He was active in all the activities for the city of Springdale.
Two brothers Quentin and Herman Brown preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Marcelyn Lavender Brown whom he married September 16, 1938 in Boyce, Texas, his children Lyndall Brown, Brenda Brown Baker, and Ronnie Baker all of Springdale, 4 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Private burial will be in Bluff Cemetery and a 1:00 PM memorial services will be held at the First Methodist Church of Springdale, Arkansas with Rev. Judy Van Hoose officiating.
