Charlene Doke's Obituary
Charlene Doke
Charlene was born on August 13, 1934, in the Strain Community of Arkansas to Ernest Arvil and Hazel Evelyn Boaz. When she was one year old, her family moved to the farm in Black Oak, Arkansas, where she spent her childhood and formative years surrounded by family, faith, and the values that would guide her throughout her life.
A devoted Christian, Charlene's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a member of Black Oak Baptist Church and faithfully attended Buckner Baptist Church in Fayetteville for more than 60 years. Her unwavering trust in God sustained her through every season of life and was evident in the kindness, grace, and compassion she showed to others.
Charlene graduated from Elkins High School and later from Fayetteville Business College. She worked as a secretary for Bronson Abstract Company for several years, bringing the same dedication and integrity to her work that characterized every aspect of her life.
Above all else, Charlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured her family. She approached life with quiet strength, steadfast optimism, and a generous heart. She freely gave her time, love, and support to those she cherished, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her gentle spirit, honesty, determination, and resourcefulness touched countless lives, and her beautiful smile brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.
Charlene had a special gift for finding happiness in life's simple blessings. She enjoyed sewing, cooking meals for those she loved, tending to her many beautiful plants, and listening to gospel music. She especially cherished supporting her beloved husband, Ted, during the 16 years he sang with the Gospel Echoes Quartet. Whether through a warm meal, a thoughtful gesture, or a word of encouragement, Charlene made everyone around her feel loved and valued.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Hazel Boaz.
Charlene leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion that will continue to inspire her family for generations to come. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Ted Doke; her sons, Greg Doke of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Brett Doke of McKinney, Texas; her grandchildren, Sean Harp, Stormi Lee, and Carson Doke; and four great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever cherish her memory and carry her love in their hearts.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the countless memories she created, the values she instilled, and the assurance that her faith has led her home to her eternal Savior.
Visitation with the family will be held from 10 am on Tuesday, July 14, at Buckner Baptist Church, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. A brief graveside service at West Fork Cemetery will follow the funeral.
