Charles Marcus Collier's Obituary
Charles Marcus Collier left Earth on May 17, 2026.
He was born October 6, 1957, in Denver, Colorado, to Barron B. Collier and Patricia Collier (Raymond). His family moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas in 1967. Marc enjoyed his childhood and teen years in the Washington-Willow Historic district and about age 14 he discovered the guitar, which affected the course of his life. He was completely self-taught and had an amazing natural affinity for music. His early interest in rock music changed over time to blues variations.
In 1979 he moved to Santa Barbara, CA, and attended the City College of SB for two years. He was lead guitarist in several bands that performed in the LA area. Marc always said that the decade he spent in California was the happiest time of his life. He returned to Fayetteville in 1990 to assist in running a family business. This challenging period of his life was made easier by his participation in music, playing with several local bands in various venues.
Marc’s later years were spent on Mt. Sequoyah, enjoying nature and taming a few crows. Marc was a handsome man who had many girlfriends over the years, but his most enduring loves were the guitar and animals, especially his beloved dogs, Suzy, Max, and Lily.
Marc’s favorite authors were Ray Bradbury and Carl Sagan. He believed there was much more to be discovered in our solar system and beyond. We hope Marc is now enjoying a beautiful voyage among the stars.
Marc is survived by his mother, sisters, Joan Collier Philip (George) of Fayetteville, Caitlin Collier of Vermillion, SD, and nieces Kelsey Collier-Wise (Geoffrey), Elizabeth Moyer Kaplan (Jimmy), also grandnieces Aurora Collier-Wise and Ramona Kaplan, all of Vermillion, SD. His father and brother-in-law, Dr. Ronald Moyer, pre-deceased him. Special thanks to Bill Hicks for his 50+ years of friendship.
Marc firmly requested no memorial services.
Donations in his name to local animal shelters would please Marc and help the fur babies.
